The death of a trucker from Virginia in Alabama has illustrated one of the biggest threats that face truck drivers on America’s roads – other truck drivers.
Nathanial Cain, 61 died on December 7, 2012 on the I-85 in Auburn when the 18-wheel tractor trailer truck he was driving hit another in the northbound lane of Interstate 85 near the bridge across Moores Mill Road, Auburn.
The trucker died from “multiple blunt force injuries,” Opeleka-Auburn News reported. Reports suggest his truck smashed into the back of another as traffic snarled along the interstate near mile marker 55.
“Traffic was already stopped from another accident up the road,” Auburn Police Division Chief Tommy Dawson told Opeleka-Auburn News.
According to a release from the coroner’s office Cain swerved in to avoid hitting the vehicles in front of him and hit another tractor trailer in the rear. He appears to have been the at-fault party in this crash.
